To make sure that a biopic leaves a lasting impact on viewers, it needs two important elements–the right cast and script. In order to pull the audience, it’s a given that it must have a stellar star cast.
While many directors believe that a star-studded film can attract the audience to the theatres, a few are of the opinion that new faces or artistes from theatre can also add a lot to the film’s value. Ram Gopal Varma’s biopic on Paritala Ravi and his disciples, features theatre artistes, while for NTR, Balakrishna has roped in the big names of T’town.Yatra, another biopic which will showcase the life of former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy comprises many big names from the Telugu film industry, with certain roles yet to be finalised.
After Mammootty got onboard to play YSR, they have signed Posani for Sureedu’s role and Asritha to play Vijayamma. The grapevine now is that the makers are trying to get popular names to take on other roles. The latest news doing the rounds is that Suhasini Maniratnam has been roped in to play Sabitha Indra Reddy. Sources also say that Anasuya will be seen as Shoba Nagireddy, a powerful leader from Kurnool and wife of Bhuma Nagireddy.
The arrival of these noted and popular names has now made Yatra a battalion of stars. Understandably, expectations of movie buffs and fans of the late political leader are high. It is not yet known who will be playing YS Jagan and Sharmila and many are eager awaiting the announcement. Directed by Mahi V Raghav, 70MM Entertainments banner is producing the film.
