Infra works at railway stations progressing briskly in Hyderabad

In a major fillip to the rail infrastructure across the city, the works on civic infrastructure at the stations and its jurisdiction are progressing at a brisk pace with South Central Railway (SCR) laying focus on the increasing needs of the rail users.At Secunderabad Railway Station, major thrust has been given for constructing fourth foot over bridge (FOB) at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore while two lifts have been commissioned at a cost of Rs 1.1 crore.

Passenger amenity works have been completed at Hyderabad station which includes surfacing of platforms, improvements to waiting halls, renovation and repair works in the station premises at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore and the other works at a cost of Rs 2 crore. On the other hand, at Kacheguda railway station, a lift has been provided on platform 4/5 and three new lifts have been sanctioned at cost of Rs 2 crore, the SCR said in a release.Emphasising on cleanliness and hygiene in the city stations, SCR has also completed hygienic and clean apron works at a cost of Rs 2 crore in Secunderabad while bio-toilets have been provided in Kacheguda.

Local stations

For Cherlapalli Railway Station which is being developed as yet another terminal station in the city, tenders for the work are also under process and will be taken up once the detailed estimate meets sanction of the Railway Board.

The hub for MMTS commuter services, Lingampalli, the upcoming rail terminal has seen developmental works to the tune of around Rs 16 crore and developmental plans on the anvil include extension of platforms, raising height of platform and provision of two escalators at a cost of Rs 1.82 crore.

The Secunderabad – Bolarum section is being upgraded to MMTS standards by taking up improvements for platforms, toilets, booking offices and allied works at a cost of around Rs 12 crore while tenders are being floated for a new FOB at Lallaguda halt.It is being planned to increase MMTS services from present nine cars to 12 cars shortly and to handle increase in carrying capacity of MMTS services, the Electrical Multiple Unit car shed at Moula-Ali is being expanded at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

SCR has also taken up bridge expansion works in Malkajgiri at a cost of Rs 4 crore to ease drainage flow and stagnation of water.Meanwhile, the Road under Bridge was sanctioned between Budwel-Umdanagar near Satamrai at a cost Rs 2.5 crore and the existing level crossing gate at Anandbagh, Malkajgiri is being converted into RoB at an approximate cost of Rs 23.62 crore.

The other ROBs under construction include at Tukaram Gate, Lallaguda at a cost of Rs 14.17 crore, Hi-Tec City at Rs 24.26 crore, Khaitlapur, Borabanda with Rs 18.32 crore while others at Falaknuma, Shastripuram and Malakpet.
