House sees heated exchange on Fees

FM flays Cong, vows to reimburse

The winter session of Assembly witnessed a heated exchange on fees reimbursement issue. During a short discussion, Congress member Sampath Kumar alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao diverted SC, ST Sub Plan funds. Reacting on this Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari got furious over Sampath remarks that the former is afraid of his talk on Dalit funds and welfare. He also flayed the congress member for his remarks that Speaker S Madhusdhan Chary failed to understand English when he spoke on diversion of SC sub plan funds. Sampath being young members should come with information by interacting with the seniors and give respect to chair he advised.

Finance Minister E Rajender also took serious exception to Sampath for his vague talk only to malign the image of the TRS Government. The government released Rs 2896 cr against Rs 3200 cr in 2016-17 and not able to release as the complete data of the students of several courses at various colleges is yet to be compiled and admission process continues till November due to different academic calendars. The previous governments cheated the students and left behind arrears being cleared now. He also flayed Sampath for talking another issue than that of fees reimbursement for stating that a union minister recently informed to Parliament that the TRS Government diverted the SC, ST Sub Plan funds. He demanded that the Chief Minister should reimburse fees.

He said that the state government is not against the corporate and private colleges which are ought to follow norms and academic calender. He claimed that they hiked scholarships for PG from Rs 900 to Rs 1500, Inter from Rs 520 to Rs 750 is offering overseas scholarships to upper caste students. The opposition members slammed the government on delay and sought reimbursement of the fees were BJP leader Lakshman, TD Leader S V Veeraiah, CPM’s S Rajaiah, MIM’s Pasha Qadri.
