As the BJP trying its best endeavor to immerse the ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in different rivers and tributaries of the country, Atal’s niece and veteran Congress leader Karuna Shukla slammed the party to gain political mileage out of it.Shukla accused the BJP of trying to cash in on her uncle’s death. She said that she is greatly pained to see the way BJP has been trying to use the name of Atal Vajpayee after his death to gain political benefits.
The former MP from Janjgir-Champa in Chhattisgarh, Shukla left BJP following a rift with the saffron party before the Assembly election in 2013 Chhattisgarh and joined the Congress in 2014. She has been serving the party in different positions. She said that nobody in the BJP in last ten years thought about Atal Ji and now in view of the assembly election in four states, the party has been trying to eulogize him and giving too much of interest.
Shukla also criticised the ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh for its efforts to name different places and various institutes of the state in the name of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She said naming of Naya Raipur as ‘Atal Nagar’ is pure politics.
People of the state are well aware of the drama being played by the ruling BJP party and can understand the move like PM’s five km walking with Vajpayee’s cortege and installing Atal grand statue. These are nothing but an effort to gain vote-bank politics. Instead of walking five kilometers with Vajpayee’s cortege, PM should have taken two steps and follow ideals of the prime minister, this would hugely benefit the country.
The people of the country will understand this plans of BJP and pour cold water over their designs said, Shukla. The former Prime Minister of India passed away at the age of 93 at AIIMS in Delhi on 16 August 2018.
